Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is caused due to infection in the uterus. A bacterial infection causes the inflation of these organs. Fallopian tubes are most affected. PID can be due to abortion, or after the birth of a child and even after having sex with new partner. PID causes pain in the abdomen area. Pelvic inflammatory disease can also be caused due to unhygienic living; bacterial formation is faster near the pelvic region so proper hygiene is necessary. Due to pelvic inflammatory disease, pain on right or left side or both the side of abdomen can be caused. Excessive smoking can be another reason of causing this problem.

Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Doctors can identify this disease by normal symptoms like pain in the abdominal region and in some cases, where it cannot be identified by regular symptoms then blood test is done. In pelvic inflammatory disease hospitalization of the patient is not necessary; it can be cured by taking some anti biotic prescribed by doctor and taking some rest at home. This disease is not limited to female even males catch this disease that is why it is advisable that if one feels the irritation earlier then both should go for medical checkup because it might possible other have also caught the infection. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease if not cured in its initial stage then it can cause some serious problems in future like unable to expect a child, uterus cancer etc.

Women who have multiple sex partners are more likely to catch this disease earlier. Women who get involved in sex during their pregnancy are also likely to fall prey to this disease. Pelvic pain is caused in pelvic area. Pelvic region is the area below belly button and above hip region. If in any person, pelvic pain lasts for more than six months than it is considered as chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. If it runs for a longer duration then it may lead to infertility.

Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

In pelvic inflammatory disease, the bacterium travels from vagina to the women uterus. Women try to ignore this infection and consider it as a normal problem and by the time they realize that the problem is serious but it gets too late for them.

Awareness about this has to be spread, so that women do not feel shy in taking treatment and consulting a doctor. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease may even lead to death of the women.

Symptoms of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease are:-

. Cramping

. Heaviness in the pelvic region

. Pain

. Itching

. Fever

. Swelling in the pelvic region

. Low back pain

. Vaginal discharge

. Irregular menstrual bleeding

. Smelly vaginal discharge

To cure pelvic inflammatory disease antibiotics can be taken and if medication alone does not help then doctor can suggest going for a surgery. It is very important to follow doctors advice, one should not stop taking the medicines before the doctor ask for. Regular gynecological check should be taken up by the patient to confirm that the disease is not occurring again.
